confess

make this your common practice: confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you can live together whole and healed

james 5:16, the message

there’s something about saying it out loud. confessing what’s really going on inside—sins we’ve committed, thoughts we’re struggling with, shameful things that keep us separated from God and each other. although we believe you can go directly to God with these struggles, sometimes the wall between He and us feels too big. but we have to start somewhere.

that’s what the refuge confessional is about—a place to begin the journey of saying out loud “here’s where I’m at, what I’ve done, what I’m tempted to do” so that it takes some of the power away from the Evil One, who wants us to think that we are losers and keeps us stuck in shame.

God’s word says “if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” (1 john 1:9).

if you’d like to say out loud your confession, fill out the form. confessions will all be posted anonymously, but if you’d like someone from the refuge to get in contact with you to share more, please click on that box. confessions will stay posted for 30 days. remember, you are not the only one out there struggling. we are all in the same boat in different ways and we hope you now can feel less alone.

  • I hardly ever pray. I don't even really think about talking to God very often. I'd rather talk to a person. But I haven't met very many people that I trust or respect enough to honestly talk to.

  • I tried pot for the first time tonight. I fear that I have been drifting from my faith for awhile, and I am scared that I do not recognize the person I have become.

  • during the holidays, my focus becomes clouded by the stress and chaos getting thru each day. Complaining about things rather than praising and thanking God for each blessing! Lord, please forgive me for getting caught up in the worldy view of Christmas and keep my eyes and heart focused on YOU!!!

  • as a blatant sinner i fail God more than i serve Him. CHANGE MY HEART, OH GOD........
